The recipe can be found in #100MorningTreats. 💛 I spent a lot of time making all kinds of kolache dough variations and came up with a sour cream version that has a lot of egg yolks, which quickly became a family favorite. Originally brought to Texas by Czech immigrants, they are made with a brioche-like dough and filled with a creamy sweet cheese and hint of lemon.
❤️ Heart-Shaped Buttermilk Cinnamon Rolls! The ❤️ Heart-Shaped Buttermilk Cinnamon Rolls! These would be lovely for Mother’s Day. I have always wanted to make heart-shaped cinnamon rolls after seeing zoebakes do them every year and decided to try it out with my Buttermilk Cinnamon Rolls from #100MorningTreats. I have been so inspired by violetcakeslondon ‘s beautiful floral cake arrangements, and went for it here, along with a dusting of freeze-dried fruit powder. 
 
To make: I baked twelve cinnamon rolls in a 10 in [25 cm] heart-shaped aluminum cake pan. I did my usual trick of lightly coating the cinnamon rolls with a small amount of cream cheese icing so they stay soft, but then let the rolls cool to room temperature. I then coated the top with the rest of the icing, and decorated with organic rose petals (make sure any flowers you are using are safe to use). I then dusted plum powder from soschefs gently over the rolls.

🧡 This carrot bread is moist and flavorful, the subtleness of the ginger and orange makes this bread shine. The naturally sweet, fresh carrots give it a lovely brightness, and help the loaf stay moist for days. 
 
I used the Nordic Ware ProCast Classic Loaf Pan to make the bread, which has a 6 cups (1 lb. loaf) capacity. This pan is made from heavy cast aluminum, which ensures that both quick and yeasted breads bake evenly. It also has handles (!!!), which makes removing it from the oven so much easier. Nordic Ware's pans truly shine. They have become staples in my kitchen, and I know that when I set out to bake something, their pans will help me succeed.

#100MorningTreats is finally out in the world! 🎉 And all the rolls, scones, muffins, breads, and breakfast delights are ready to be baked by you, including these Soft Buttermilk Cinnamon Rolls, which I’ve been so excited to share with you. I know that many of you love my original cinnamon rolls, but these are really special. It’s made mostly the same, but with buttermilk in the dough and a different, slightly richer filling, then finished with a cream cheese icing that melts into the swirl. 

This recipe is on the blog today (⭐️ LINK is in my profile⭐️ ). I need to point out that the printed version in the book does have an error, so there is the corrected version on my site. It is disappointing when this happens, and I always feel like I let my readers down when I don’t catch a mistake. But, four books in, I’m here to tell you it is impossible not to have one.

Officially two weeks (!) out from the release of m Officially two weeks (!) out from the release of my new cookbook, #100MorningTreats! In honor of that I am sharing a recipe from its pages: Creamy Jammy Coffee Cakes. This recipe is one of my favorites from the book. Cream cheese swirl is what I’ll pick in a bakery case lineup any day. And in each of these 4-inch coffee cakes there is a layer of cake, then cream cheese, tart jam (or lemon curd), and streusel in every perfect bite. One of my favorite things about this recipe is the topping is made from the dry cake base, which cuts down on extra bowls and time preparing them. I like to eat them just barely warm, but they are great the next day too.

Last week I spent several days in New York City, a Last week I spent several days in New York City, and ate so.many. good pastries I had to share them in a post. It was only my third time in NYC, and I mostly focused on food this trip: I went to the cherrybombe Jubilee and got to meet doriegreenspan ! along with some other lovely cookbook authors and food writer/stylist friends I only knew online. zoebakes took me out around the city and we ate many beautiful things, including breakfast at buvettenyc , cake at fromlucienyc , cruellers at dailyprov , gorgeous pastries at tinbuilding , Cardenal littlespain , Baba at lerocknyc and oh, so much more. My dear friend Scott took me to my first broadway show and bought me my first NYC pretzel. And spring had started! It was still snowing in Minneapolis so it was a dream to see blue skies.
Raspberry Puff Pastry Tart! I love this recipe; wi Raspberry Puff Pastry Tart! I love this recipe; with it’s flaky crust and creamy center that hits all the right notes. It’s one I’ve been making for many years; switching up the fruit and filling. The raspberries add a burst of freshness, and are the perfect partner to the pastry cream topping. It’s a wonderful balance of flavors and textures, and would be delightful for Mother’s Day or Brunch. I do also have a cheater’s recipe for you if you are not up for making your own Rough Puff Pastry and Pastry Cream.
