My dear friends just had the sweetest little – I got to stop by and take some photographs. Some links for your Sunday: Helen Keller visits a dance studio. Beautiful. Julia Child’s kitchen. Murray. He’s still my favorite. I’m still missing Dave. This pie. I have to make it.

Last week I spent a few days in Winona, working on a food column I write with Larry and Colleen for Food 52. We spent most our time cooking, baking, and photographing, but did find time to have some meaningful conversation and watch a few episodes of Flight of the Conchords. Just a little green Like the color when the spring is born There’ll be crocuses to bring to school tomorrow Just a little green Like the nights when the Northern lights perform There’ll be icicles and birthday clothes And sometimes there’ll be sorrow -Joni Mitchell

A few things: Super excited about Food 52’s new cookbook. Also their new videos are pretty rad. DAVID BAZAN. Just saw him play a house show and it was beautiful. Check out his Bazan monthly recordings. Complicated coffee. I love this video. One of my New Year’s resolutions is working my way through a Reading Challenge (but a Minnesota book instead of a Montana one). Wind & Willow Home’s Luna Line (inspired by the phases of the moon) is gorgeous. I’m sort of obsessed with Chilly Gonzales. But he’s so amazing. He has pop music masterclasses and plays the piano with his feet. Joni Mitchell. I really like this song. My husband’s band just put out an EP on bandcamp. You can listen here. Also, a little video:

Sorry for the silence over on this end. It’s been a crazy month; we are in the process of selling our house and buying another, and my days have been filled with taping boxes and filling them with everything we own. So instead of a recipe I bring you some photos from a few family sessions I’ve done recently. And: I have Shortcakes with Roasted Fruit and Rosemary on Wit & Delight, as well as a Cherry Skillet Cake on Handmade Charlotte. Lady and Pups. I want to make everything. How Animals Eat Their Food. (I love this. Also, Part 2.) Gary Provost on writing.

I’ve been a big fan of Wind and Willow Home for a long time now. Araya’s colorful bowls are popping up everywhere, and rightly so. A few weeks ago I stopped by her home studio to see her space and snap a few photographs. I was happy to find she was kind and funny, exactly how I imagined her. She is an artist worth supporting. Recently Araya started a new project, for coordinating table wares such as tea towels, napkins and table linens in the same organic modern to style Wind and Willow Home has come to be known by. She has a campaign started on Indiegogo to bring her unique, hand inked soft goods line to life. And while the linens and towels are gorgeous, what I’m equally excited about is her BOWL FULL project. It has always been a dream of mine to help change people’s lives. I have been so fortunate in this endeavor that I want to show my gratitude by paying it forward. A portion of the funds raised through this Indiegogo campaign will help to launch our BOWL FULL initiatives. Through the BOWL FULL project, Wind & Willow Home will donate a minimum […]

I had another session with this lovely family; baby [M] just keeps getting cuter. A few things: The past few months I’ve been testing out a new app called Steller, which just came out this past week in the itunes store. It’s an app for telling stories, by using pictures, text, and video. I think it’s fantastic, and highly recommend you check it out (it’s free right now, too!). Here’s one of my favorite stories (did you know my Grandma was a contortionist?!). Here’s a little winter mix for you (if it’s still gray and cold, like it is here). Cara from Big Girls Small Kitchen has a dairy-free baking e-book out; it looks great! My husband and I can’t get enough of Wisconsin Foodie; I highly recommend checking it out out. The Greycoats have a new song out (name your price for it!). I’m totally making Ashlae’s two ingredient chocolate mousse this week. I love Murray.

I had another fun session last week; couples in love are a beautiful thing. A few things: *I’ve discovered some gorgeous food blogs the last few weeks: Princess Tofu, Hortus Natural Cooking, A Brown Table, Hummingbird High, and Dolly and Oatmeal, just to name a few. *I am terribly smitten with everything in Suite One Studio’s store. But I especially love this and this. *I was excited to be on Food 52 last week – check out my halfway to dinner article, featuring one batch of caramelized onions.
