Rhubarb! I, too, had the worst allergies this year. It’s funny how it’s never regarded as seriously as a cold or flu but can be equally debilitating. Here’s to emerging from that sniffly cloud to enjoy the season.

When I was a young child, visiting the farm of a relative, the farmer came rushing in the house one late in the day, as the sun was dropping beyond the tree line, excitedly telling us to come outside. ‘You’ll see the event of a lifetime!’ was his eager call. It was a murmuration of Starlings over an adjacent farm field and I was mesmerized with awe. It was something I’ve never forgotten, to witness such a beautiful spectacle of nature. It moved and undulated like a shroud on the wind, and we stood there in silence until we could no longer easily see the mass of birds. I later found that I was covered in mosquito bites from standing outside in the twilight, and not once do I recall being bitten. And Anne Lamott’s birthday ruminations have been my go-to mantra ever since I first read it. Plus! Rhubarb!!!!! It’s truly Spring, isn’t it??
